    The Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH) is an application-oriented research institute in the fields of high-frequency electronics, photonics and quantum physics. It researches electronic and optical components, modules and systems based on compound semiconductors. These devices are key enablers that address the needs of today’s society in fields like communications, energy, health, and mobility. It covers the entire value chain from design to ready-for-delivery systems.

    We are looking for a

    scientific employee (m/f/d)

    in the Optoelectronics department for the area of reliability tests on diode lasers and laser modules, including their application in space.

    Your tasks

    • Planning, design and construction of the mechanical, electronic and optical set-up of the measuring stations
    • Installation and commissioning of the measuring stations
    • Qualification of the measuring stations based on test protocols to be defined in advance, if necessary in accordance with ECSS standards
    • Development of concepts for the regular calibration of the electrical and optical components of the measuring station, such as current sources, power detectors, etc.
    • Technical support of the measuring station after commissioning, e.g. carrying out intermediate measurements, calibration of components, etc.
    • Evaluation and interpretation of the experimental results
    • Support for project-related documentation and project reports

    Your profile

    • Diploma, Master's or equivalent degree in a scientific or technical field such as physics, electrical engineering, microsystems technology or similar
    • Relevant knowledge and practical experience in setting up electro-optical measurement technology is desirable
    • Knowledge in semiconductors, optics, electro-optics or laser physics is a plus, but not a requirement
    • Independent, careful and quality-oriented work
    • Ability to work in a team, engagement and independent working style
    • Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken
