Researcher (f/m/diverse) - Position No. 2024-B-03
Part-time up to Full time 100%, 39 hours/week, German public sector tariff, EG13 or 14 TVöD Bund according to qualifications. Salary range between 58.320 € – 67.150 €
The position may be filled as of 1 February 2025 and is limited until 31 December 2025, with a possible option of contract extension.
The position is part of the research project “Fostering resilience through Health and Social Protection policies in times of multiple crises”, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The candidate will be included in the work package focusing on the role of social protection. He/she/they will investigate the capacity of different social protection schemes, such as cash transfers and public works programs to enhance the resilience of households and vulnerable groups in low- and middle-income countries. The researcher will also be part of a larger research cluster working on social policies, poverty and inequality. We are looking for a person who can conduct excellent research and, based on that, independently formulate and communicate policy recommendations.
Qualifications and requirements:
- A Master with excellent grades or, preferably, a PhD in one of the following areas: development economics, social protection, welfare economics, health economics, general economics, political science or other related fields in the social science;
- In-depth knowledge and research experience in the area of social protection;
- Knowledge of, and experience with quantitative – especially econometric – methods;
- Experience in planning and conducting fieldworks, collecting primary data either through quantitative surveys or through qualitative methods;
- Experience in translating research results into policy advice is an asset;
- Fluent written and spoken English; good command of German is an asset;
- Willingness and aptness to travel abroad, including countries with a tropical climate („Tropentauglichkeit“).
