Einführung
The Protection in Armed Conflict (PIAC) Consultant position in Geneva, Switzerland focuses on enhancing knowledge of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and protection of civilians in armed conflict within UNHCR and the Global Protection Cluster. The consultant will be responsible for updating the PIAC toolkit, training package, developing an internal Aide Memoire on Protection of Civilians, and organizing consultations and webinars on key topics related to protection during armed conflicts.
Aufgaben
- Issue an updated version of the PIAC toolkit
- Update the PIAC training package
- Lead the development of an internal Aide Memoire on Protection of Civilians
- Support in organizing consultations, webinars, and meetings with partners
Voraussetzungen
- University degree in international law or international relations with specialization in International Humanitarian Law
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in working with international organizations or reputable INGOs/NGOs on issues related to Protection of civilians and IHL
- In-depth knowledge of International Humanitarian Law and humanitarian/protection work in conflict settings
- Good understanding of humanitarian coordination structures
- Ability to work autonomously
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent drafting skills
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Experience in developing training materials and facilitators guides
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Flexible work attitude
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
