Einführung
The Helmholtz Institute Mainz invites outstanding candidates to apply for a Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Mass Spectrometry, focusing on the investigation of the nuclear structure of the heaviest elements by mass spectrometry.
Aufgaben
- perform mass measurements of heavy radionuclides with SHIPTRAP
- develop methods for mass spectrometry of actinides and transactinides
- simulate and design experimental apparatus for ion manipulation, contributing in improving the performance of the SHIPTRAP setup
- participate in experiments for the investigation of actinides and transactinide carried out by the SHE physics section
- analyze experimental data and prepare scientific publications
- contribute to the supervision of Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral students
Voraussetzungen
- a PhD in experimental nuclear physics or a similar field
- sound experience in mass spectrometry and ion traps
- experience in mass spectrometry of radionuclides at accelerator facilities
- good communication skills in English (both verbal and written)
- knowledge in software development for experiment control, simulation software and data analysis is desirable
