Einführung
The postdoctoral fellowship position at Dilla University focuses on studying human-environment relationships in the Konso Cultural Landscape UNESCO World Heritage site in Ethiopia. The research theme includes exploring actors, strategies, interests, and agencies in cultural landscape conservation, as well as examining gendered experiences and narratives in human-environment relations. The project uses political economy as a theoretical framework and aims to understand UNESCO World Heritage Sites as 'living' landscapes shaped by local dynamics. The successful candidate will join a team of researchers working on a broader research project funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, focusing on cultural landscapes in Ethiopia and Kenya.
Aufgaben
- Conduct fieldworks, mainly ethnographic fieldworks in a specific cultural landscape
- Publish peer-reviewed articles and submit manuscripts
- Present research outputs at conferences, workshops, or seminars
- Collaborate with project leader and team members in publication, fieldwork, and event organization
Voraussetzungen
- PhD in human geography, development studies, sociology, anthropology, or related fields with a focus on economic, political, or social dimensions of conservation
- Minimum of two peer-reviewed articles published on relevant thematic areas
- Completed PhD in the last six years
