The RTG Chembion is positioned at the University of Münster. Thirteen scientists of the University of Münster have teamed up with their complementary expertise to study chemical biology of ion channels. We tackle questions in the field of ion channels with innovative structural, chemical methods, interconnecting chemistry, pharmacology, and medicine and foster the internationalization of researchers.
Your Tasks
Subject of the work will be the characterization of modulators and functional analysis of neuronal Kv7 channels. The PhD student’s work will focus on work with: transfection of heteromeric channel constructs; electrophysiology in oocytes, cell cultures and brain slices; modeling individual neurons and networks of neurons using NEURON.
We will provide a structured 3-year cutting-edge PhD student training program in and beyond the fields mentioned above.
What we expect:
We are looking for a motivated and qualified PhD student holding a state examination degree in pharmacy or, alternatively, a master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or neurobiology. Good command of spoken and written English, communication skills as well as team spirit are essential. German language skills are not a requirement, but a willingness to learn is desirable.
