PhD position (m/f/d) theoretical modelling of transition metal complexes
Leibniz-Institut für Katalyse e.V. (LIKAT), Rostock
The Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT Rostock) with approx. 300 employees and guests is one of the leading European research institutions in the field of catalysis. LIKAT is a competent partner for the re-search and development of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts as well as catalytic processes and technologies. LIKATs focus is on application-oriented basic research and applied research. Therefore, it cooperates with industrial companies and research institutes worldwide.
The research group of Dr. Olga Bokareva in the department of “Modeling of Metal Complexes in the Course of Catalytic Reactions” has an opening for a position in this area.
Your task:
The position involves conducting quantum-chemical and quantum-dynamical simulations to explore the time evolution of excited states in transition metal complexes after light excitation, which is crucial for subsequent catalytic steps. You will develop reliable methods for accurately handling the numerous vibrational degrees of freedom and perform simulations to interpret time-resolved spectra of catalytic species.
Your competence:
Applicants should hold a Master's degree in Chemistry or Physics and have a passion for programming and strong interest in multidisciplinary research involving chemistry, physics, and computational sci-ence. Knowledge of Python, other programming languages, or bash scripting and/or experience with computational chemistry software is advantageous but not required. Proficiency in English is essential.
LIKAT supports professional equality of women and men and so applications from women are most welcome. In areas where women are underrepresented at LIKAT preference will be given to women with equal qualification. Disabled applicants with equal qualification and aptitude will be given preferential consideration.
Please, send your application (including C.V., list of publications, copies of relevant examination certifi-cates and names contact information of two referees) as an e-mail (in one pdf file with a max. size of 25 MB) by e-mail quoting the reference number 422-01/2024 to bewerbungen(at)catalysis.de until December 1, 2024.
For topic related questions, please contact Dr. Olga Bokareva (Olga.Bokareva(at)catalysis.de) directly.
Please note that application and travel costs cannot be reimbursed.
