The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF is offering a master's thesis opportunity in the field of quantum sensor technology, focusing on innovative magnetic field sensors based on nitrogen vacancy centers in diamond.
Aufgaben
- Measurements on laser-based magnetic field quantum sensors with NV centers in diamond
- Characterization of new metallic materials
- Investigation of microelectronic circuits using NV scanning probe magnetometry
- Development of new measurement methods based on scanning probe magnetometry
Voraussetzungen
- Enrolled student in the field of physics or a comparable discipline
- Interest in challenging scientific content from experiment and theory
- Interest in experimental laboratory work in optics/photonics, scanning probe microscopy (STM/AFM) or with NV centers
- Good programming skills, ideally in Python
- Good basics in optics, lasers and quantum physics
- Good written and spoken English
- Enjoyment of scientific work
- Ability to work in a team, openness and motivation to work independently
