    The Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF is offering a master's thesis opportunity in the field of quantum sensor technology, focusing on innovative magnetic field sensors based on nitrogen vacancy centers in diamond.

    Aufgaben

    • Measurements on laser-based magnetic field quantum sensors with NV centers in diamond
    • Characterization of new metallic materials
    • Investigation of microelectronic circuits using NV scanning probe magnetometry
    • Development of new measurement methods based on scanning probe magnetometry

    Voraussetzungen

    • Enrolled student in the field of physics or a comparable discipline
    • Interest in challenging scientific content from experiment and theory
    • Interest in experimental laboratory work in optics/photonics, scanning probe microscopy (STM/AFM) or with NV centers
    • Good programming skills, ideally in Python
    • Good basics in optics, lasers and quantum physics
    • Good written and spoken English
    • Enjoyment of scientific work
    • Ability to work in a team, openness and motivation to work independently
