Project description
ReBuilt is a research project that promotes the novel concept of a regenerative built environment and demonstrates how it can be implemented in practice. ReBuilt's four regional studies (Berlin-Brandenburg, Germany; Paro-Thimphu, Bhutan; Bali-Denpasar, Indonesia and Western Cape Region, South Africa) focus on the crucial steps for the transformation towards regenerative construction. These are both scientifically researched and proactively advanced using participatory methods. The goal is to create roadmaps in collaboration with local partners that are based on a scientific systems analysis and supported by a broad constellation of civil society, political and administrative actors.
Your mission
- Development and communication of a roadmap: scientific synthesis of existing reports, incorporation of feedback and activation of the existing local actor network
- Development of targeted policy recommendations as part of the roadmap
- Research about the use of nature-based materials in low-income communities and self-built projects
- Dissemination of the project results (including creation of webinars, publications, conferences)
- Support with design tasks regarding a toolkit and an international exhibition
- Coordination and representation of the Western Cape, South Africa, regional study in the ReBuilt project and support with tasks in the wider project context
Your profile
- Completed Masters degree in urban design, urban planning, architecture, social sciences, political science or similar disciplines
- Enthusiasm for regenerative and circular construction
- 3-5 years of professional experience in a comparable position
- Experience in scientific work
- Experience with political processes and policy recommendations
- Confident public speaker and experience in external communication
- Experience of having worked in South Africa or a comparable context would be an advantage
- Language skills: excellent written and spoken English skills (at least C1), German, Italian, and other language skills are an advantage
