Interning With Us

GPPi runs a small internship program for current students or students between bachelor’s and master’s degrees who are interested in gaining first-hand experience in public policy research and consulting. Candidates who already have a graduate degree (a master’s or an equivalent) and are not currently enrolled at a university are not eligible to apply for our internship program. Internships are normally based in our Berlin office and may last up to a maximum of three months (exceptions apply only if a longer duration is required by the candidate’s university).

We do our best to match the qualifications and interests of our interns with research, advisory and dialogue projects to which they can contribute the most. Whenever we foresee an internship opportunity, we advertise it here:

Flexible starting date: internship in projects on the strategic and security implications of critical and emerging technologies (computing-related technologies, biotech, neurotech, etc.); applications from STEM majors with an interest in policy issues are strongly encouraged; part-time work is possible. The application deadline for this internship is noon on Friday, November 15, 2024.

Successful candidates must demonstrate:

Strong analytical skills;
An excellent academic background in a field relevant to the position advertised;
An interest in and familiarity with the issues mentioned and the key players relevant to those issues;
Exceptional writing ability, in particular in the English language (short-listed candidates will be asked to send a writing sample);
A record of initiative, engagement and an entrepreneurial spirit;
International experience outside of your home country is preferred;
Good team fit.

What we offer:

A monthly contribution to living expenses of 800 Euros for full-time internships (32−40 hours/week, your choice) for those not already receiving an internship stipend. For internships with less than 32 hours/week, the stipend is adjusted accordingly.
Opportunities to contribute directly to a selection of our research, advisory and dialogue work, which may include the development of new projects;
Support with developing new knowledge, skills and professional networks as well as mentoring and feedback.
