Einführung
Join the Jülich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS) as an Instrument Scientist / Postdoc for the neutron spectrometer PANDA, contributing to world-class research in condensed matter physics.
Aufgaben
- Supporting commissioning for restart, and the commissioning of options like ADR cryostat and BAMBUS multiplexing secondary spectrometer
- Providing local contact support for users of the neutron spectrometer PANDA of JCNS at MLZ
- Contributing to the instrument development of PANDA to meet future experimental challenges
- Developing your own scientific program in the framework of the JCNS institutes
- Conducting and disseminating world-class research via publications and conferences
- Representing and actively working on increasing the user base at MLZ
Voraussetzungen
- Master’s degree with subsequent PhD degree in Physics, Magnetism, Quantum Phenomena, or a related discipline
- Experience in the application of neutron scattering methods for the investigation of the structure and excitations in condensed matter systems
- Experience and technical interest in neutron instrumentation
- A proven track record in inelastic neutron scattering research
- Experience in supervision and teaching at various levels
- Experience in acquiring third-party funding
- Experience in communication with the general public and popularization of neutron scattering techniques
- Very good command of written and spoken English; willingness to acquire German skills up to B2 level
- Initiative character, creativity, good interpersonal communication and presentation skills, result orientation, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team player in the PANDA team and at JCNS
- Readiness for on-call duty during the user operation periods
