Einführung
A unique opportunity has arisen for a new in-house editor at Inter-Research. The in-house editor will initially be appointed as an Assistant Editor with a path towards Managing Editor, depending on sufficient aptitude and experience (previous or gained at IR).
Aufgaben
- Be involved in all aspects of the review process at Inter-Research's journals
- Liaise with our Editors-in-Chief and Editors throughout the review process
- Assist with the allocation of manuscripts for review to our Editors
- Act as handling Editor for certain manuscripts
- Handle the decision process in particularly difficult cases
- Assist with maintenance of the Editorial Board
- In cooperation with Guest Editors, organise Theme Sections on special topics
- Liaise with the in-house production team
- Occasionally assist with copy-editing and other production processes
- Play a central role in upholding our high selection and production standards
Voraussetzungen
- A very high proficiency in English (especially written skills)
- A university degree in science (MSc or PhD, especially natural sciences, marine ecology, aquatic biology, or any other topics covered by our journals)
- Computer literacy (proven work experience using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat)
- Enhanced personal skills, e.g. ability to work in a team, excellent communication and diplomacy skills, self-motivation, good analytical and firm decision-making skills, diligence, ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines
- Previous experience in producing or working with academic science literature or applying style guides is a bonus but not essential
- Knowledge of German would be a strong asset, but is not required for the job
