Einführung
The GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel is offering a position for a Doctoral researcher in Computer Science and Marine Data Science, focusing on the project 'Oceanic Synergy: Fusion of Physics, Biology, and Computing'.
Aufgaben
- Analyze various satellite data
- Control/accompany measurement campaigns
- Combine satellite data with biological and physical point measurements
- Investigate the potential of machine learning and pattern mining
- Focus on data mining and machine learning approaches for spatio-temporal systems
Voraussetzungen
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Sciences or a related field
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Experience in software development, preferably in data processing applications, in Python or related programming languages
- Knowledge in Marine Sciences, particularly Oceanography and Biology (desired)
- Experience with large heterogeneous data sets (desired)
- Experience with machine learning (neural networks & data mining) (desired)
- Willingness to work in teams of the two research units and the MarDATA school (desired)
- Enjoy interdisciplinary work (desired)
