Einführung
The PhD position involves analyzing the redox interaction of glass composite sealants for Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOEC) to contribute to the sustainable production of green hydrogen. The research focuses on developing an inert sealant for long-term operation in electrolysis mode by understanding and optimizing the reaction mechanism of the sealing material.
Aufgaben
- Developing a new joining material for an inert sealant in electrolysis mode
- Conducting experiments to simulate operating conditions and examining SOEC stacks
- Characterizing thermochemical and joining properties of sealant material
- Melting new glass compositions and analyzing joints using scanning electron microscopy
- Investigating parameters relevant for redox process through model experiments
Voraussetzungen
- Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related disciplines
- Interest in renewable energy sources and technical challenges
- Experience or knowledge of glass-ceramic materials
- Motivation for independent work and complex issue analysis
- Interest in validating theoretical findings through experiments
- Team spirit and ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills in English, knowledge of German is a plus
