Einführung
The Kitchen Assistant position at IISD Experimental Lakes Area involves working under the direction of the Head Chef in food preparation and cleaning. The facility conducts whole-ecosystem experiments related to freshwater research and sustainability. The role includes maintaining safety and nutrition standards, operating kitchen equipment, food storage, cleaning, and following COVID-19 protocols. Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting objects, and repetitive hand movements. The position requires living on-site in dormitory-style accommodation and working in a remote field station. The contract is full-time from April to November 2024.
Aufgaben
- Food preparation and cleaning under the direction of the Head Chef
- Operating kitchen equipment for food preparation
- Proper food storage and rotation
- Cleaning and organizing food storage areas
- Assisting in serving meals
- Maintaining COVID-19 protocols
- Cleaning kitchen, dining hall, and washroom
- Removing trash, recycling, and composting
- Living on-site at the facility
Voraussetzungen
- Experience in culinary arts
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments
- Physical ability to lift objects and stand for long periods
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions
- Willingness to work in a remote field station
